Duracoat Spray for Change created an exciting art installation that was exhibited during UNEP’s Global South-South Conference in October 2013 in Nairobi. The conference hosted over 1,200 delegates from around the world. Duracoat Spray for Change was selected to be part of the activities organised during the International Week of Lead Poisoning Awareness as an innovative way of showcasing a key message – working towards a lead free environment.
In August 2013, Basco Paints was the first local company to make the transfer to lead and chrome free paints for their decorative range. This move by the company is similar to the Eco-friendly concerns it adopted two years ago, well ahead of other paint manufacturers in the region.
Graffiti artists Wise Two, Bankslave, Swift9 and Uhuru B created a custom art installation for the prestigious event. The piece evoked a sense of hope and optimism about a future free of lead poisoning, something easily achievable with collective effort.
