This Issue celebrates our former Chief Justice, Dr Willy Mutunga, and uses the occasion to learn more of the impact he has had on some of the personages he has interacted with. First and foremost, we would like to thank Willy for so willingly and promptly responding to our several requests for information. Then a big Asante Sana to all the writers who have risen to the occasion and given us these interesting insights into Willy – the Human Being! It was ‘no holds barred’ from being married at age 12 to the controversial 2013 Election Petition result, it is all there.
The ‘Beginnings of Kenya’s Left Ideology’ has been a while in the making and will add to our country’s history, a core function of AwaaZ. ‘Language’, this time Sheng and Ugandan-English, continues to shine a cultural torch and, regardless of all its pros and cons, ‘Football Mania’ lights up Qatar and the Middle East (‘West Asia’ more correctly).
It is that time of the Year when friendship and compassion reign supreme. To all our revered readers, writers and colleagues, we wish you Happy Holidays and all the very best in 2023. Kaaeni Salama!
